According to the June 4th USDA/NASS Crop Progress report, the U.S. corn crop was rated 78% Good/Excellent, 19% Fair, and 3% Poor/Very Poor. In Iowa, the corn crop is slightly better than the national average and is rated 81% Good/Excellent, 17% Fair, and 2% Poor/Very Poor. The U.S. soybean crop was rated 75% Good/Excellent, 21% Fair, and 4% Poor/Very Poor. In Iowa, 93% of the soybean crop has been planted, and 72% has emerged. 80% is in Good/Excellent condition, 19% is in Fair condition, and only 1% is Poor/Very Poor.
On average, Iowa pasture conditions have been improving with 63% in Good/Excellent condition, while only 10% is in Poor/Very Poor condition as of the June 3, 2018 Iowa Crop Progress & Condition Report.
The Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report currently shows that Iowa hay conditions are 69% Good/Excellent, 26% Fair, and only 5% in Poor/Very Poor condition.
