This past summer, DIS brought on Alex Robinson as a research analyst. Alex’s responsibilities include working closely with the Iowa Farm Bureau on various articles and reports. He also assists in analyzing data and report writing to ensure clients have an adequate understanding of our proposed results.
Alex’s passion for agriculture grew throughout middle school and high school as he attended summer agriculture camps at various land grant institutions. Alex received a B.S. in Agribusiness from Prairie View A&M University, where he conducted research on the optimal nitrogen rate for niche crops such as strawberries, goji berries, Egyptian spinach, and amaranth. He later received a M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, where his thesis focused on farmers’ lending preferences.
As a research assistant, he published extension articles on numerous topics, such as farmers’ markets, brand reputation, and inflation. After graduating, Alex interned with the USDA-Foreign Agricultural Service in Canada, where he analyzed industrial hemp and sweet cherry production to create commodity reports for the Global Agricultural Information Network.
Alex’s hobbies outside of work include exercising, playing basketball, watching sports, and enjoying a good book or show. Alex is excited to continue working on meaningful and engaging projects while being a strong asset to the team.
